This house was built in the late 1900’s on the 3500 block of Center Street near Harvard St in Chaneyville, a defunct neighborhood. When the neighborhood was being redeveloped in the early 1990’s into today’s Memorial Heights apartment complex, this house was relocated to this site to evade demolition. The roof had to be removed for the relocation and the new roof was built with a taller roofline to accommodate a half story.
This is the only structure from this area located in the Sixth Ward. It is not known if any other structures were moved prior to the development of Memorial Heights. It is known that the majority were demolished.
