2210 Kane

In 1908 William Vollmer bought lot 5.  One of the conditions of the sale was that a small house on the lot would be moved.  That small house is now on the adjoining lot at 2206 Kane.  William Vollmer was a farmer who continued to operate a large farm established by his father, a German immigrant.  Part of the farm was inside Loop 610; the Vollmer Cemetery is today in the Timbergrove Manor subdivision.

This late Queen Anne Victorian cottage at 2210 Kane was built in about 1911.  It was inherited by William Vollmer's son Paul Vollmer and was sold by his estate in 1964.  It was rental property until at least 1987.
