812 Hemphill

In the 1880-81 city directory William Hill lives at 119 Decatur corner Hemphill.  He probably lived in the Fourth Ward North cottage in the photograph when it faced Decatur on the corner lot.  When 2117 Decatur was built in about 1890, the original house on the lot was moved to the rear of the lot and rotated 90 degrees to face Hemphill at 812 Hemphill.  Sometime in the early 20th century its roof was replaced with a jerkinhead one.  In about 2004 it was moved again by Bill Gay to its present location at 1012 Dart Street in the First Ward.
