2119 State

Mrs. Augusta Hafer bought lots 11 and 12 in January 1893.  In April she married Reinhold Hiebel, and in 1894 they were residing on lot 12 on the southeast corner of State and Hemphill.  In 1896 she married again and moved to a farm in Waller Co.  The center hall Folk Victorian house at 2119 State today may or may not be the Hiebel house.  In 1902 Mrs. Annie Kopp bought 2119 State a few months after her husband was killed in an accident and lived there until 1908, when she moved to 2117 Union, where she lived until 1948.  In 1908 Annie sold 2119 State to Magdalena Wilkening, a widow, whose husband and son had been killed when a streetcar in which they were riding collided with a freight train.  She received $16000 in damages.  She never lived at 2119 State.  It was rental property until the 1990's.
