2318 Kane

Henry Carl was one of 7 sons of Adolph Carl, who lived at 2118 Decatur.  In 1903 Henry contracted with A. Boehm to build a 5-room cottage at 2318 Kane for $1082.  He worked for the H. & T. C. railroad as a hostler (moves locomotives in and out of the roundhouse).  He died in 1910 at 38 years of age, but his widow, Margaret, lived at 2318 Kane until about 1944.  Their eldest daughter, Aileen Carl Curry, remained there until her death in 1979.
