2120 Lubbock

This 1-story Classical Revival cross-gable cottage was built in 1910 by John S. Luckie.  The house, along with a barn and a fence, cost $2000.  John Luckie was an electrician who worked for the City Electrical Department.  He and his wife Tina (née Valentine) lived at 2120 Lubbock until 1918, and then they moved to the Woodland Heights.  In 1925 2120 Lubbock was purchased by Hannah Etkind, a widow who was living across the street at 2117 Lubbock.  She resided in the house until her death in 1960, and after her death her children continued to live in the house.  The property was in the Etkind family until 1985.

The 1920 census says that Hannah was born in Russia and speaks Yiddish; the 1930 census says that she was born in Latvia and speaks Russian; her death certificate says that she was born in Lithuania.
