2111 Union

This post-Victorian cottage with a pyramidal roof was built in 1904 by William Olschewske, probably as a spec house.  In the 1903-04 city directory Wm. H. Olschewske & Co. has offices in the Kiam Building and is involved in real estate, rentals, and loans.  In 1912 John W. Surles bought 2111 Union, and he lived there until 1923.  He was married to Ella Bloxsom.  Her family was closely associated with the house at 907 Henderson and the 2-story building at 915 Henderson, and from 1934 until 1951 John W. Surles lived at 907 Henderson.  In 1961 Surles heirs sold 2111 Union to Felipa and Esmeraldo Galaviz.  Their heirs sold it in 2004.
