Walter Henderson was a professional photographer, and in city directories from 1912 until 1939 the address 2216 Kane routinely has 2 listings: W. W. Henderson and Henderson Art Co. (photography, picture enlarging, picture framing). The 1-story house that he and his wife Cassie built in about 1924 to replace a previous house was a Sears & Roebuck kit house, the Columbine model. In 1936 they made major changes, including the addition of a second story. Walter Henderson died in 1940, and Cassie Henderson lived at 2216 Kane until 1953. In the latter part of the 20th century the house had a social service function. For a time it was some sort of residence for registered sex offenders.
