1803 State
In about 1892 Francois Tajan, a French immigrant, built 4 identical Folk Victorian extended shotgun cottages as tenant houses at 1803, 1805, 1807, and 1809 State Street. Each one had a shed and a privy. He owned 3 1/2 lots or 175' of frontage. He built 4 houses on lots with about 43' of frontage. 1803 and 1807 have survived; the other two have not. Tajan sold 1803 State in 1914. Frank Posposil, a Czech immigrant, and his wife Emily lived here from 1936 until 1976.
